TRA Strategic Partner for ARAB ICT FORUM

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority TRA Bahrain sponsored the Arab ICT Forum as a strategic partner. The forum held on Tuesday, 25 October 2016 and was organized by the Bahrain Society of Engineers. It is a one day biannual event which sheds light on the latest developments of ICT. This year’s event is under the auspices of TRA’s Chairman of the board, Dr. Mohammed Alamer.

“TRA is a continuous supporter of the Arab ICT forum and we believe it’s necessary to bring the region’s best and brightest together under one roof.” Says Dr. Alamer. “We’re part of a field that is ever changing and is at the epicenter of what supports our economic growth. Every so often we have to share our knowledge with each other and plot the course for the future needs of the region; this forum is the right platform to do it.” He added.

This year’s theme is economic growth through ICT development and various speakers from across the region will share their insights in this regard. In his opening speech. Dr. Alamer expressed that  “Information and communication technology plays a major role that will determine the pace of economic growth in not only the Kingdom, but also the region and the whole world for the coming decade. We’re witnessing an epoch of technological discovery in our field, one that changes how we carry out our daily lives. High-speed internet and innovation opens a door to opportunities never before possible.”

In addition, speaking at the event was Mr. Isa Yasser Al Heddi; TRA’s Manager of Spectrum Management. Mr. Al Heddi shared a presentation on 5G networks and their applications; defining what 5G is, what makes it different and its drivers and opportunities.
